Nestled on the scenic banks of the Danube River, just 20 km north of Budapest, Szentendre is a delightful small town famous for its Baroque architecture, colorful houses, and narrow cobblestone streets. Often called the “Artists’ Town” of Hungary, Szentendre has long been a haven for painters, sculptors, and craftspeople – home to dozens of galleries and museums, including the famous Margit Kovács Ceramic Museum and the quirky Marzipan Museum!
Our group will travel together by tram and suburban railway (HÉV) from the university to Szentendre. Once there, you’ll enjoy an English-guided walking tour along the picturesque Danube promenade and through the town’s romantic alleys and hidden courtyards.
For the return journey, you can easily take the suburban railway back to Budapest at any time – it runs frequently throughout the evening.
If the weather is kind, you’ll also have the exciting option to sail back to Budapest by boat!
The ferry departs at 17:00 from the Port of Szentendre (near the town center) and arrives at two ports in Budapest – one in Buda and one in Pest – offering beautiful sunset views along the Danube.
- Transportation: Self-paid by participants
- Guided walking tour: Free of charge
